Diversion Sports Cornhole/ Bags Rules

General Rules

Pitcher’s Box: The pitcher’s box is a rectangle 4 ft by 3 ft at each end of the court, parallel and on both sides the of Cornhole Boards.   Each contestant must remain in the pitchers box while pitching the corn bag.

Foul Lines: Foul lines shall be defined as the lines in front of the Cornhole Boards.    You must stay behind this line until your bag comes to a complete rest!

Value of A Cornhole Bag:

In-the Hole- A cornhole bag in-the-hole has a value of three points.

A Cornhole Bag On-The- Board- has a value of one point.

If a cornhole bag touches the ground before coming to rest on the cornhole board, it is a foul and must be removed prior to the continuation of play. If a cornhole bag comes to rest and is touching a bag that is on the ground it is only a point if you can remove the bag on the ground and the cornhole bag stays on the board.

Delivery of Cornhole Bags: In doubles play, the first side of contestants alternate pitching corn bags until they have thrown all four bags, then the remaining contestant (pitching from the other set of cornhole boards) continue to alternate in the same manner until all four cornhole boards are delivered and the inning is completed.

A contestant may deliver the cornhole bag from either the left or right pitchers box but, in any one inning, all cornbags must be delivered from the same pitcher’s box.

Start of Game: Toss of coin, winner starts. In consecutive games looser of last game starts first. Once the game has started contestants are to remain at that court until the game is completed.

Pitching Rotation During The Game: The contestant who scored in the preceding inning shall pitch first in the next inning. If neither pitcher scores, the contestant who pitched last in the preceding inning shall pitch first in the next inning.

Position Of Contestants During Delivery: The contestants shall pitch from the pitcher’s box behind the foul line and must maintain constant contact with the designated pitcher’s box during the entire address and release of the corn bag. If both contestants use the same pitcher’s box to deliver their cornhole bags, the contestant pitching first should cross over to the other pitcher’s box in front of the cornhole platform and then move to a proper position. As the first contestant is crossing in front the second contestant should be crossing over in back and mounting the pitcher’s box from the rear.

Point Limits: The cornhole match shall be played until one member of a team reaches (or exceeds) 21 points after all four bags have been thrown by both contestants on that end of the court.

Total Point Cancellation Scoring: In cancellation scoring, cornhole bags in-the-hole and cornhole bags on the board pitched by opponents during an inning cancel each other out. So if team A has one bag in the hole and team B has 1 bag on the board. Then 3 points minus 1 point equals 2 points for team A and no points for team B.
